Artist bio from allyrhodes.net
“My name is Ally Rhodes and I’m a singer/songwriter from Omaha, Nebraska. I have been this for the entirety of my life and don’t remember ever not knowing a passion for music. I have been playing guitar for about five years (maybe? I can’t keep track of time) and dabbling in other instruments like piano, ukulele, and mandolin for various lengths of time, all scattered about the past approximate decade and a half. I’d give you a more accurate timeframe if I had any idea how old I was when I started playing. I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, and my first full song included the following line: “I was walkin’ up a mountain, and then I saw a fountain, baby.” Obviously, I was a child prodigy and should have been published by age six. It baffles me that I was not. Nowadays, I write a lot of very sad songs about things that suck, but also a few happy sappy ones here and there. It’s a good time.
I started recording when I was about 13 years old. I self-released my first EP, “Brighter” in November of 2009 and also released another self-titled EP in September of 2010. I am currently gearing up to release my first full length album, Illuminated, which I am immeasurably excited about! It’s been a long time coming and I am in love with how it turned out. I can’t wait for you to hear it!
As you probably know, YouTube is a HUGE part of my career. It has opened the door to every important event in my career thus far and I’ve got all of my subscribers to thank for that. I believe there are just a few hundred short of 40,000 of you at this point, which is absolutely nuts! It’s honestly mindblowing to be able to write something, post it, and get feedback on it, all within an hour or so of the initial song idea popping into my head. The support from those of you who watch my videos is really why I get to do everything that I do, so thank you thank you THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I love you all more than you know!
Random, unnecessary information about me: I really love coffee and English breakfast tea. I tweet too much, as I’m sure you’ve noticed if you follow me, and I’ve got an absolutely horrible case of wanderlust. You can generally find me watching Friends on DVD, driving around Omaha, reading (usually Harry Potter), or sitting in a coffeehouse or airport. It’s a nice little life I lead, really, and I enjoy every second. So thank you for being a part of it.”
